The principal creators of the park, Judie and Jim Edgar, were on hand to cut the yellow ribbon with His Excellency the Honorable Arthur J. LeBlanc, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia and Her Honour Mrs. Patsy LeBlanc.
Dreams do come true. It took Judie and Jim only 2 and half years to build this park for all residents of HRM and their families to enjoy for future generations. Funding and support for the project was made possible by our three levels of government, the Canadian Cancer Society, CN Rail (Atlantic Division), Outside Planning and Design Studio and the QEII Hospital.
Whether your life has been directly affected by cancer or not, I would highly encourage you to spend some time there this year to reflect on your thoughts and dreams for the future. As for myself, I will be back again next spring when the thousands of daffodils planted will start to show themselves after the winter frost has melted.
My nephew, Camden Cody-Cox (who is in my family bubble) and I were honoured to attend the event thanks to the gracious invite made possible by Councillor for District 4, Cole Harbour/Westphal, Lorelei Nicoll. Thank you Lorelei, I was honoured to have been invited to attend.
The park is located at Ferry Terminal Park, 94 Alderney Drive, and park hours are from 5:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. As a councillor candidate for District 4, I want to bring a compassionate ear, fresh ideas and positive solutions to the communities of Cole Harbour, Westphal, Lake Loon and Cherry Brook.
